34 South, The Waterfront, Knysna, RSA
Knysna’s number one fish restaurant
So, if you go to Knysna you will probably end up in 34 South on the Waterfront. Most people do. In fact, the restaurant seems full whatever the time of day (although we were swept out with the crumbs at 10.30).
It is more than just a restaurant. Its a big shed of a place with tables outside and in, a sushi bar, shop, fishmonger and deli.
It describes itself as the home of the Knysna oyster, which we avoided in favour of the humble but delicious sardine to start, then paella (delicious) and rump steak (excellent, but too much to finish).
Its a bit of a conveyor belt, but fun to go to none the less. Its good value and the food and wine are well above average.
Book, especially during the holiday season, and give yourself time to choose from the extensive menu.
