Gratitude journal
three good things

Nov 22, 2019

Hello, wall!

Say hello to walls and crash barriers that leap out at you in the dark, break your wing mirror, scratch the side of your car and puncture your tyres.

At least it’s not as bad as the roadside crash barrier that some years ago decorated the side of our car with a long, wide and very obvious scratch. In spite of Clang’s attempts to polish it out, it remained stubbornly visible. We were resigned to a significant payment when we returned the car to the rental firm at Pisa Airport. However, handover took less than a minute after a non-existent inspection and, thankfully, a very lax sign-off.

Whilst I remain eternally grateful to the staff at the car hire office in Pisa, I am even more grateful to the wonderful Mr Cook at Cooks Motors in Kirkbymoorside, who didn’t even raise an eyebrow at seeing me for the second time in a month (after something took out my back tyre in style) and with no fuss started to get it sorted out.

A Gratitude Journal is just a simple way of
recording and appreciating the good things in life.

Research shows that keeping a gratitude journal leads to
higher levels of alertness, happiness and positive emotions as well as
a stronger immune system, lower blood pressure and better sleep.
