Mick and Grace Scott
‘we were shown how, with little tweaks in the way we managed our money, we would be able to afford the things we wanted over the coming years.’
Before retiring, I ran a local magazine, Go Local, the distribution of which was centred on Helmsley, Kirkbymoorside and surrounding villages and my wife Grace worked at a local school. At the time (2007) our finances were in a bit of a mess and someone recommended we talk to Jeremy, which we did in October of that year.
Doing so was one of the best decisions we ever made, especially in light of the banking crisis which came along very soon after.
Jeremy’s methods seemed to be different from day one, in that all the focus was on what we wanted out of life when we were able to retire and then illustrating how he meant to achieve that for us. There was no talk of investing in particular stocks and shares and no projections based on spurious rates of interest, which is what I’d expected. Instead, we were shown how, with little tweaks in the way we managed our money, we would be able to afford the things we wanted over the coming years.
Where we were once putting off large purchase spending, just in case we ran out of money, Jeremy gave us the confidence to do what we needed to improve our lives right from the off. In particular, in 2009 he guided us through planning the funds for building an extension to the house, installing a new kitchen and showing us we could still afford to take a 3 week holiday in the US.
Due to his excellent work on our behalf, we have both now retired early, bought a new car and have been on holiday twice this year already, with another still to come before the end of the year. We don’t feel the need to worry about our investments as we are confident we have enough in the kitty to make sure we are well provided for in later years.
Jeremy and his team has been a pleasure. He is a friendly, considerate and honest man and I would recommend him to anyone.
